Junior Safety Consultant

Role description

CRA is seeking highly motivated junior safety engineers who are looking to build on their existing experience and become part of our team providing expert safety support to our clients in the UK nuclear and other high hazard industries.

Key responsibilities:

Typical activities of the role will include:

  • Contributing to the production of nuclear safety case documentation for clients across the nuclear industry;
  • Supporting hazard identification activities using techniques such as HAZOP and FMEA;
  • Working as part of integrated projects teams of Safety, Human Factors and Probabilistic Safety Assessment specialists;
  • Providing safety support to major engineering projects;
  • Supporting the production of bids and proposals for safety opportunities.
  • Support to project planning and project management activities.

Whilst contractually located at CRA offices in either London or Warrington, the successful candidate must be prepared to travel to undertake site visits of varying duration depending on the needs of each project.

A current full driving licence is desirable.

Current security clearance is not essential, but candidates should be eligible and willing to achieve SC as a minimum.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.

Fluent in English Language.

Desirable Experience:

2 years + experience in the provision of assurance services with the nuclear or other high hazard industries would be beneficial but not essential.

Familiarity with relevant legislation and standards associated with working with nuclear and potentially hazardous materials including Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, COMAH, COSHH, DSEAR etc.
